{"id":551,"date":"2018-12-12T17:20:43","date_gmt":"2018-12-12T21:20:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.stewardshipworks.org\/blog\/?p=551"},"modified":"2018-12-12T22:43:41","modified_gmt":"2018-12-13T02:43:41","slug":"stewardship-is-our-journey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stewardshipworks.org\/blog\/?p=551","title":{"rendered":"Stewardship is Our Journey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the core of The Stewardship Foundation\u2019s core beliefs is the biblical story of the Parable of the Talents (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usccb.org\/bible\/matthew\/25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matthew 25:14-30<\/a>) where Christ teaches that to those who are entrusted with much, whether it be money, assets or non-financial riches, much is expected.<\/p>\n<p>As stewards of our clients\u2019 investment choices, we often reflect on our mission and how well we communicate this to our friends, family, and the clients who entrust us with their financial future everyday.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-552\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stewardshipworks.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/all-saints-2887463_640.jpg\" alt=\"all saints\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stewardshipworks.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/all-saints-2887463_640.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.stewardshipworks.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/all-saints-2887463_640-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/>As Peter preached to the early Christians, and what is still our personal challenge today, \u201cAbove all, let your love for one another be intense, because love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without complaining. As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God\u2019s varied grace. Whoever preaches, let it be with the words of God; whoever serves, let it be with the strength that God supplies, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usccb.org\/bible\/1peter\/4\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">1 Pet 4:8-11<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Yes, our vocation is to be \u201cgood stewards\u201d of other people\u2019s money, and we certainly try hard to do that with strength and without complaining, though since October we\u2019ve been tempted to throw darts at a photo of the Merrill Lynch bull.<\/p>\n<p>According the U.S. Bishop\u2019s Pastoral Letter on Stewardship, under Obstacles to Stewardship, we read\u2026<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>At times, we can find it far too easy to ignore spiritual realities and to deny religion a role in shaping human and social values. As Catholics who have entered into the mainstream of American society and experienced its advantages, many of us also have been adversely influenced by this secular culture. We know what it is to struggle against selfishness and greed, and we realize that it is harder for many today to accept the challenge of being a Christian steward.
