He then made it his life\u2019s mission to give away his entire $7.5 billion fortune while he was still living\u2014a commitment that earned him the nickname the \u201cJames Bond of Philanthropy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Forbes published an article about Mr. Feeney in 2012 that is well worth the read entitled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/stevenbertoni\/2012\/09\/18\/chuck-feeney-the-billionaire-who-is-trying-to-go-broke\/#70609104291c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chuck Feeney: The Billionaire Who is Trying to Go Broke<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-564\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stewardshipworks.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/glass-300558_1280-1024x693.jpg\" alt=\"glass half full, half empty\" width=\"420\" height=\"284\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stewardshipworks.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/glass-300558_1280-1024x693.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.stewardshipworks.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/glass-300558_1280-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.stewardshipworks.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/glass-300558_1280-768x520.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.stewardshipworks.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/glass-300558_1280.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/>He gave away his last $7 million in 2016 to Cornell University, leaving him a paltry $2 million to live on. Musing about Mr. Feeney, we found an article written in 2018 by Philip Taylor; we felt it was well worth sharing with our loyal readers.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Taylor notes that \u201cthe average American that makes $1 to $2 million only contributes about 3.2% to charity\u201d but goes on to muse that he rarely gives much over 10% and admits why. You may relate.<\/p>\n<p>He also has some sage but simple advice on how you can give to charity no matter how much you make. There are only 2 steps.
