Faith of our Fathers Today and Every Day

In honor of our nation’s celebration of Independence Day, PBS aired a documentary of the religious views of our founding fathers. I was reminded how fervently these leaders relied on their faith and allowed their faith to guide the principles on which this great nation of was founded. They did not impose their faith on fellow citizens, yet were compelled to follow the precepts of their faith to form the enduring statutes that made the United States of America a beacon to the world.

Recently I attended a series of local school board meetings. A board member stood to inform those present that he would no longer say the words “under God” when reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. He talked of creating a compliant environment that not only allows, but invites students to ignore the words, “under God” if they wish. Fellow board members nodded in resignation if not support. I can’t believe that I was the only attendee experiencing shock, sadness and dismay.

Constitution signingThe Stewardship Foundation proudly supports the Christian values espoused by our founding fathers. We further believe that those who desire to take God out of the public forum and out of our schools create a recipe for disaster. When a key ingredient is removed from a recipe it can alter the very flavor or texture that makes it great.

We assure you, the Christian values of the Stewardship Foundation will not change. We will always support life, faith, family, and religious freedom. We invite those of you who have private or family foundations to consider placing your foundation under the Stewardship Foundation. If you are worried or concerned that your children or grandchildren will not honor the values you intended to animate your foundation, then the Stewardship Foundation can provide the assurance that your legacy and core values will endure.  Contact us to see how we can assist you.

On this July 4, 2013, we invite you to spend a few moments learning more about the lives and words of our Founding Fathers.

You’re Not Alone

walk aloneHeartbeat International serves as the leadership and resource supply line for its ever-growing Pregnancy HELP Centers worldwide. April 2-5, hundreds of pregnancy center directors, supporters, volunteers, affiliates, and support organizations (like us who serve in these pro-life ministries) attended their annual conference in Dallas.

Although participants were refreshed and renewed with great food, inspiring music, and communal worship services, they were also soberly reminded that the task is difficult. They cannot take the cross out of the cross-bearing work that they do, and so they must make peace with the hardship of their ministry.

One of the more poignant messages came from a minister from Liberia, “If you want to go fast then go alone. If you want to go far, then go together.”

Those working in pro-life know they must go far and they accept the hardships of their ministries. We were there to let them to know that, with the Stewardship Foundation by their side, they need not go alone.

As you know, we encourage ethically responsible nonprofits to partner with us. We provide the tools and resources needed by individuals and businesses who are eager to invest beyond the cash donation.

Heartbeat affiliates and all pro-life, pro-family, and pro-freedom nonprofits need not walk alone in their search for
transformational gifts. We are here, intent on walking with them. Will you let us walk farther with you?

A Surprising Paradigm Shift in American Morality

Over the last few of weeks the case for legalizing same-sex marriage has been in the national forefront. The Millennial generation is turning Facebook red, and according to Pew Research they now support gay marriage by 70%, a 19% increase from 2003 and the largest increase for any generation.

core values SignWhen then-President Clinton passed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in 1993, the Senate just as overwhelmingly voted to define marriage as a “union of one man and one woman.” Clearly, we are seeing a paradigm shift in moral values.

Politicians, our friends, and media-hungry celebrities are using the feel-good word “compassion” as an excuse to ignore Paul’s warning to the Corinthians (1 Cor 6:9). Having moral courage appears to be less popular if it offends the rights of a business or individual to support a minority behavior (unless, of course, children, guns, or priests are involved – then the moral outrage comes from all sides!).

We must leave it to God to judge the act of homosexual relations between two consenting adults, but we may want to reflect on why Sodom was destroyed – arrogance, conceit, and refusal to help the poor and needy.

The Stewardship Foundation’s stand is always to side with the Law of God over the ever-changing whims of man. We stress that we must always act with charity and respect for all even when we disagree. We strive to support those who stand for what they know is right even when the truth is inconvenient. So you know where we stand. The question is where do you stand? And, are you willing to live what you believe?
